I was trying to find out when the new Super Walmart opens out in Riverhead and I came across this.
For context, Riverhead Raceway is a 1/4 oval here on eastern Long Island and it is the only remaining racetrack on LI. The "hole shot drags" are the last legal way to race your own car here. The rest of Riverhead is a giant shopping mall.
Given the Leviticus 18:22, you'd think this person would be a NASCAR fan...

Well, considering you're not too far from where they took Bridgehampton Raceway and turned it into a golf course, I'd say the pitchforks are already being sharpened.

It's biund to hapoen sooner or later. The track is surrounded by stores, there have been rumors of it closing for years, it's too small to bring in real racing, and the property is probably very valuable. It's just nice to be able to go and watch live racing every Saturday during the summer. A drag strip would be even better.

I like the prices and selection, I hate Walmart, their customer service, and their customers. I still go almost every weekend to the different stores around here for Hot Wheels though.

Bridgehampton. Long Island had Bridgehampton AND YOU PEOPLE FUCKED IT UP.
THAT COULD HAVE BEEN A GODDAMNED F1 CIRCUIT WITH SOME WORK AND WE CAN'T HAVE NICE THINGS.

Today is the first I've ever heard about Bridgehampton. I'm looking at some vintage photos right now and it would have been great to experience it in person.

I never got to experience it in person, but a couple people I talk to about cars (one of whom drove there, the other who got to see one of the Can-Am races) say that if someone had put some real money into the place, Watkins Glen would have been an afterthought in American racing history.
That's insane to me. My only experience on the track is through Grand Prix Legends, and even there it's one hell of a track.

The girlfriend and I are going to head out thete next weekend and take a look at what's left. It's incredible to see some of the cars that raced there, I never knew abouy any of this.
